Cali, oh how I love the ocean and the wonderful women I was able to spend a weekend with! Talk about diversity from open jumpers, to a big, big BIG paint Clyde and all horses in between! From 75-year-old awesome moms to 21-year-old eager young ladies, all of them shared the golden thread of finding their inner cowgirl and becoming a willing partner to their horses.
Once again, my weekend was filled with laughter and excitement. Working such a diverse group of horses truly inspires me. To see just what it takes to get everyone on the same page, safe, learning, trying and gaining ground!
Some brought their big girl panties but only carried them in their back pocket in case of an emergency. Others came with the game on face like in a roller derby, ready for action in whatever corner it may appear.
Saturday night was an amazing, AMAZING BBQ hosted by Colette and her husband Doug. Besides great food, it was the perfect opportunity to meet husbands, friends and spectators and learn more about life.
The arena, Lost Ark, I am glad only we found it. (I think I’ll leave it lost, so only I can find it LOL). It is a tranquil setting on private property that boasts a huge, beach-like sand arena with plenty of trailer parking, nice shade trees and just fabulous owners!
I am truly speechless when it comes to describing my Cali ladies, their hunger for knowledge and their thirst to try made it one of the most captivating clinics I’ve done this year. Not a moment was wasted. We worked on lots of Sesame Street ideas, left and right, near and far, front and back. I’m just kidding!
These ladies brought very good questions and lots of them. From the English world to the roping world, we covered everything and may have solved world peace as well!
As many emails that I got squealing with joy that they were inspired by me, I am truly humbled and wish to say it was me that was inspired to do even better by the horse and to travel on and help more gals find that road to their inner cowgirl!
With that thought, I bid you a pause (as I hate the word goodbye) until we ride again. Stay inspired and keep finding that inner cowgirl. I know you all have a great one inside!
